Isla has an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy and is the Island’s only ACPSEM Gold accredited Sports Physiotherapist, one of only 64 in the UK. The accreditation process is very rigorous and this is an achievement that Isla is extremely proud of. The Gold status entitles her to join the IFSPT Register having fulfilled all the strict criteria.
The Isle of Man is famous for motorsport and Isla has spent the last 13 years working with racers at the highest level including Moto GP, World Superbike, World Supersport, Trials and Enduro. Isla has built up a team of therapists providing services at the Isle of Man TT races, helping improve competitor preparation, recovery and safety: something that Isla is very proud of.
Isla has high level specialist training and loves working with dancers, performing artists and musicians of all levels. She has the skills to facilitate more graceful, effortless and flowing movement in dancers, and can help musicians find relief from the postural stress related to playing and performance. She is particularly interested in breathing work and its role in performance, wellbeing and posture.
Isla has the skills and post-graduate training to work with athletes from all sports at all levels, from school games and recreational through to elite. She is no stranger to the demands of world-class athletes and performers having worked individually with 15 World Champions and several professional dancers; including providing overseas support. Having set up and developed the Physio service for the Isle of Man Institute of Sport, Isla attended 5 Commonwealth Games and Youth Games with the Isle of Man National Team. She was head of the overall Physio service provision for the Commonwealth Youth Games when it was held on the Island.
Isla has been working in sport throughout her Physiotherapy career on a local, national and international level. She worked as a consult for GB Cycling, traveling with them to Australia and working on individual cases. Isla was a team leader at the Olympic Games in Athens and attended the World Tae-Kwondo Championships in Mexico.
