Isla is no stranger to event work having set up and developed services for the Isle of Man Institute of Sport, The Bermuda National Rugby Team, The Bermuda Rugby World Classic, The Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Team and the Isle of Man TT Races.
Event work is a skill in itself and takes versatility, innovative practice, and the ability to work independently. Isla is highly skilled and experienced in team travel and has experience transporting injured players home, liaising with local health services abroad including the need to arrange surgery whilst away if urgently required. Isla has all the kit needed to be able to provide medical cover for a team or event and she holds a Lubas Medical Sports Trauma Certification. She is an expert at taping and she learned some highly specialized techniques for motorsport whilst working with the Italians in Clinica Mobile at the World Superbikes and MotoGP.
Isla is a highly versatile practitioner, used to working calmly, at speed and with precision under extreme pressure and often with cameras trained on her whilst operating close to the start of the race. This is something that Isla has learned not to be distracted by, remaining composed, professional, and able to operate at full capacity. The TT provides a highly unique environment and requires Isla to lead a team confidently and able to react appropriately as events unfold in a highly unpredictable environment.
Isla has experience offering professional, discrete services to TV productions, films, visiting performing artists, musicians, athletes, and dignitaries. She can travel to wherever is convenient or treat in the comfort of the Scott Physiotherapy Clinic. It is also possible to offer virtual consultations and advice where rapid advice is needed but attendance is not possible for whatever reason. This could be for advice on acute injury, taping strategies or fitness to compete or perform and has proved useful to performers and athletes on tour without medical cover.
