  • What is Physiotherapy?

    Physiotherapy is the treatment of injury, pain, or dysfunction. A dynamic and hands-on approach helps improve your biomechanics and optimize your everyday movement and function. Whether in the field of elite sports or a day to day pain-free life, Physiotherapy can help you.

  • Who do we treat?

    Isla has extensive experience treating people of all ages and abilities from 9-90+. With an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy and Gold Levels Sports Physio accreditation Isla is trained to the highest level enabling her to work with athletes up to and including World Champion level (15 to date). Working in high-pressure situations and environments helps to sharpen innovative thinking, clinical skills, leadership qualities and facilitates the building of strong referral networks, making the very best management available to all her patients whether recovering from joint replacement or racing in the Moto GP.

  • Why choose a Chartered Physiotherapist?

    If you see a Chartered Physiotherapist you can be confident of their professional knowledge and skills. A Chartered Physiotherapist is a qualified member of their professional body, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).

    Through this membership they have committed themselves to providing high quality services and protecting the quality of physical treatments.

  • What are your clinic opening times?

    The clinic is open 5 days a week Monday to Friday, the first appointment is at 0815. Other times are available by special arrangement, please ring the clinic to discuss your needs.

  • How long is each appointment?

    Initial appointments are 45minutes – 1 hour

    Follow-ups – 30 mins & 45 minutes slots

    If you wish to have a longer appointment, please ring to discuss your requirements. Packages are available for patients flying over for treatment or pop up clinics.

  • Do I need to be referred by a doctor?

    No, it is not a problem to simply book yourself in for treatment. We do receive referrals from General Practitioners, Consultants, and other professionals however it is not necessary. Privately insured patients may need to see their GP to be able to claim through their policy.

  • What happens at your first appointment?

    Isla will take you through a questionnaire that includes your details, injury history, and overall medical history. This discussion creates a pathway for the most appropriate tests to be carried out which may include looking at your movement patterns, mobility,  flexibility, and strength in and other relevant techniques specific to your needs. Depending on the complexity of your case, the assessment may be carried out in part over two sessions. All findings will be discussed with you with the opportunity to ask questions at any point.

    Isla is highly skilled in manual therapy and all areas of musculoskeletal pain management. You will be assured the most up to date, effective techniques due to Isla’s passion for ongoing professional development. These may include, soft tissue massage, Stecco method myofascial manipulation, joint/ spinal mobilization, taping, electrotherapy, exercises in many forms, or other appropriate techniques. Treatments are highly bespoke, and an individual plan is made for every patient following the initial consultation which is adjusted as treatment evolves.

  • Is your clinic registered with insurance companies?

    Isla is HCPC registered and we advise that you check with your insurance company prior to receiving treatment. We do not invoice insurance companies directly on behalf of clients. If patients wish to claim, a receipt will be issued to facilitate reimbursement.

  • Is there parking available?

    The clinic has a car parking space directly in front of the entrance with easy access suitable for patients using wheelchairs or walking aids. There is also parking available on the main road opposite (Peveril Road) and on Victoria Terrace, with access via the back gate (walking through the garden and second gate to the main clinic entrance). The Victoria Terrace parking is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties due to a couple of steps in to and out of the garden area.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    We require 24hours notice or a full fee will be charged (unless there are exceptional circumstances). Late cancellations and missed appointments are costly and frustrating. The clinic always having a waiting list and we respectfully ask that you please ensure adequate time for a slot to be filled where possible. Cancellations can be made via text 07624 463343, e-mail isla@scottphysio.com (which are the most rapid if you are held up) or on the office phone 01624 845555 which is checked at break time (1045-1100), lunch time (1245-1345) and after clinic finishes (1800).

  • What do I wear to my appointment?

    Please be aware that you may be required to undress to your underwear, in order that an effective assessment to be carried out. You are asked to wear appropriate undergarments and invited to bring shorts if this would make you feel more comfortable. We are of course respectful of your wishes and can treat through light clothing if you prefer.
