Isla is a specialist in movement and has undertaken extensive training in this area with world-renowned Physiotherapist Joanne Elphinston, and she is proud to be a certified JEMS® Movement Systems Clinical Rehabilitation Practitioner. This training continues to evolve as new evidence and techniques come to light. Certification took 3 years of training, case studies, and clinical refinement to be ready to take the examination which included both written and practical elements.
The ability to create change in movement requires a deep understanding of complex interactions of the brain, body, and the impact of our environment and stress on our nervous system. Movement concerns could be a loss of movement availability due to an injury, surgery or chronic pain, lack of ease in a daily function such as bending down, or difficulty doing a certain task or skill. Isla helps many aspiring and professional athletes and dancers to explore performance potential and equally enjoys the joy of her patients being able to garden, take a stroll and play with grandchildren pain-free.
The beauty of JEMS® is that it a holistic system, fully supported by science which offers you the ability to reclaim and find more joy in movement allowing self-expression with fewer restrictions no matter what your age or ability. An expert makes the complicated look simple, making information accessible and understandable to enable changes to take place. Isla comes from a highly creative family and loves the fact that healing is both an art and a science, something that the JEMS® system recognises. We are all unique and movement is a way of expressing ourselves, and our beliefs through body language. Everyone has potential, often it is just a case of getting out of our own way.
Whatever your movement concerns or aspirations, Isla has the skills and training to help you.
